The Library will be closed Dec. 22 - Jan. 1.

The Library Learning Resource Center will be closing at 5PM Dec. 17 - 21.

Any Interlibrary Loan Requests received on/after Dec. 21 will be fulfilled after Jan. 1.

The stairs between 1st and 2nd are closed for the next few days. All other staircases have been recarpeted and are open.

The stairs between the 3rd and 5th floors of the Library will be closed for the next few days for carpeting. Please use the elevator to go between these two floors. The stairs between 2nd and 3rd floors are now open.

UAMS Library website now offers subject portals

The Library home page now offers subject-focused portals. These portals, located under the red banner at the top of the page, offer selected resources in Basic Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health. More portals will be added as they are developed. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Come to COPH 8/240 from Noon – 12:45 for today’s eTech@Noon presentation on Citrix by Loretta Edwards from the Library Learning Resource Center. Citrix is used to access UAMS applications, documents, and computers from off campus
                                                        

Closing early on Monday for Veteran’s Day

In observance of Veteran’s Day the Library will close at 6:00 PM, and the Library LRC will close at 4:30 PM. on Monday, November 12, 2012.

New Carpet for the 3rd floor

The carpet is being replaced on the 3rd floor this week, and possibly into next week. Please excuse the noise and any other inconveniences as we make this improvement. The area will be greatly improved, with increased study space, when we are finished.

eTech@Noon Events This Week

iTunes U at UAMS - Jessica Zabel and Brittney Van Zandt from Apple will give a presentation on iTunes U Tuesday, October 30 from 12:00 to 1:00pm in I. Dodd Wilson 115 A/B.

TurningPoint at UAMS - Amy O'Connell from TurningTechnologies (Audience response clickers) will be at UAMS to discuss new products and changes on Friday, November 2 from 10:00 to 11:00 in COPH 8240. (A previous email had the incorrect date.)

Teaching with Technology Committee Meeting - Join us for our monthly open meeting on teaching with technology on Thursday, November 8 from 12:00 to 1:00pm in COPH 8240.

Society for the History of Medicine and the Health Professions Announces $1,500 Research Grant

The Society for the History of Medicine and the Health Professions announces $1,500 Research Grant. Deadline for proposals is December 15, 2012. The award will be announced in April 2013.

New ILLiad Login Page

ATTENTION ILLiad USERS: We recently upgraded the Interlibrary Loan System (ILLiad).  If you access the ILL/ILLiad page from a bookmark on your computer, that link will no longer work.  See the Library’s ILL page for the new ILLiad link and update your bookmarks.

New Carpet on the 5th Floor

The re-carpeting of the 5th floor is finished and the LRC is fully operational. The entrance to the 5th floor hallway has been reopened.

The next phase of the construction is the re-carpeting of the 3rd floor. We will keep you posted about that.

Arts of UAMS Oct/Nov display

The Arts of UAMS and the UAMS Library are proud to exhibit the works of Arkansas Outdoor Photography Club. Several talented photographers are represented in the exhibit October 1 through November 30.

Be sure to come by the display on the 2^nd floor of the Library and enjoy these extraordinary outdoor and nature images.

The LRC on the 5th floor of the Library is being re-carpeted. To access the LRC for testing and reviews take the EDII elevators to the 5th floor and use temporary entrance on East Hallway.

Use the main entrance on the 1st floor to access floors 1-3 of the Library. There are computers on each of those floors.

9/29 National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Saturday, Sept. 29 is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The UAMS Police Department will host a drop off site in the hospital lobby between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the public to bring unused or unwanted medication.

The event is part of a national effort by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for those who want to safely and properly dispose of unused or unneeded prescription drugs.

New UAMS Library Historical Research Center Digital Collections website

The UAMS Library Historical Research Center Digital Collections website has a new appearance and new features.

The HRC is also proud to announce the addition of a new digital collection containing page images and searchable text from journals published by the Arkansas Medical Society from 1870 to 1922. The journal volumes are being digitized in-house using equipment purchased with a federally funded 2011 Digital Preservation Award (National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health).

Elsevier Science Direct journals may be unavailable this Saturday, March 17th, 2012 between 7:30 AM CDT-8:30 PM CDT. Interruptions in service are only a possibility and should be intermittent if they occur.
