Congratulations to Suzanne Easley, UAMS Library Archivist, on the selection of her thesis Privies, Politics, and Public Schools : Public Health and Education Reform in Arkansas, 1908-1917 in Bob Razer’s article “Arkansas History: 2011, a selected bibliography” in the latest issue of Arkansas Historical Quarterly, v. 71 # 4, Winter 2012.

New access for ALC Classes

The ‘back door’ of the Active Learning Center on the 1^st floor of the Library will be opened 30 minutes prior to scheduled classes and remain accessible throughout the class.  Restrooms are available in the north lobby and Boulevard Bread is nearby for that mid-class caffeine boost. We hope this will make getting into and exiting the ALC area easier for students as well as reduce the noise level in the library when classes are over.

 

HRC Digital Collections Website: New Appearance & Features

The UAMS Library Historical Research Center Digital Collections website has a new appearance and new features.

The HRC is also proud to announce the addition of a new digital collection containing page images and searchable text from journals published by the Arkansas Medical Society from 1870 to 1922. The journal volumes have been digitized in-house using equipment purchased with a federally funded 2011 Digital Preservation Award (National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health).

NEW: Library Drop In Classes

The Library is offering drop-in classes on the Second Tuesday each month at 10AM and Fourth Thursday each month at 2PM in the 3^rd floor Digital Conference Center. 

The first class is Tuesday, January 8 at 10am - "UAMS Library 101: Tour & Introduction to Library Resources & Services ".

LRC Closed on Saturdays

Beginning tomorrow, January 5, the Learning Resource Center (5th floor) will be closed on Saturdays. The rest of the Library will be open regular hours, 9am - 6pm.
